MB Brings Latest in Search Engine Marketing to Ottawa

April 30, 2010 - In keeping with our mandate of offering our clients the latest and best in web marketing, Marketing Breakthroughs regularly attends important web marketing events. Earlier this month, our Web Marketing Manager extraordinaire Dave Delage attended the Search Marketing Expo Toronto. Marketing Breakthroughs was one of the only Ottawa marketing firms to have attended this mega industry event. As predicted, we brought back some cutting-edge search marketing techniques for the local Ottawa market.

This two day event on April 8th and 9th in Toronto featured some of the most impressive names and brightest minds in the industry today, including keynote speaker Avinash Kaushik, evangelist for Google and author of Web Analytics 2.0 and Web Analytics an Hour a Day, Peter Farfaras of Microsoft Canada and Warren Raisch of Digitaria, plus many others.

Much was discussed and talked about over the event's two days and was delivered in a format that included keynote speeches, breakout sessions and panel discussions. The main areas of focus were:

•    Trends and techniques for the latest search engine optimization;

•    Changes to search engines, social networking and online services that are affecting local businesses and in particular SMB's (small medium-sized businesses) such as Google Maps, personalized searches, and peer review sites like HomeStars;

•    An insider's view on where advertising and technology is going: mobile and social networking, augmented reality and iPhone aps.

Dave's mission was to collect as many cutting-edge search marketing techniques as possible, and he delivered. On Friday, April 16th, Dave held a highly informative and detailed lunch and learn sharing what he learned with the rest of the MB team. MB staffers soaked in the latest search engine techniques and learned practical applications for MB's client base. His session cut to the heart of how MB can effectively apply these techniques to our medium-sized business clients. As Dave put it: "It's doing what we do now but even better."
